About a year ago my sister told me that she was expecting a little one! I couldn't believe it and was so happy for her to become a mother, something she has always wanted. And I knew it was going to be a boy.... (Allie, I still think you're going to have all boys and have a rough & tumble house).
Her pregnancy seemed to fly by for me. I think it did for her too. She didn't have time to be tired, or swollen, or uncomfortable because she was in nursing school the entire time! I have no idea how she did it but she'll say Beck was her reason for pushing through and "her good luck charm." That he was her late night study buddy in the womb and her assistant during clinicals and rounds. "As I lay here tonight studying for the NCLEX, I can’t help but feel overwhelmed at how far I’ve come. My baby spent nine months with me in nursing school. I like to think he was always my good luck charm. I carried him around countless hospitals, he woke with me in the early hours to study for tests, he sat with me through class as I accumulated all of this knowledge about nursing and what it means to be a nurse, he comforted me as I struggled when I was trying to push through school, and there with me as I cared for numerous patients. As I’m watching him on the monitor sleeping soundly in his crib, I know that I owe him one last hoorah to end this journey we were on together. Next week I’ll be taking the NCLEX without my good luck charm, but I’ve never wanted to make him more proud. It is time to finish strong, baby Beck."
Beck showed up one month before graduation and was able to see Allie walk across the stage with his own eyes (or really he was sleeping in his carrier). It has been so fun having Beck around and I think I like this aunt thing. I get text pics from my sisters and girlfriends but honestly, none of us look that cute in footy pajamas with our bellies hanging out so I'm glad Beck can take care of that department for us. I'm so happy that our family has grown with Beck, Corey, and Addyson this year. Big love to you Texas cuties!!!! -Aunt Mo
