Toddlers-- the most raw and organic form of energy out there. I wish we could find a way to turn their giggles, tumbles, and general exploration into sustainable power. If that was the case Alexis and Daniel would never owe another cent to MLGW! I got to spend an afternoon with them and their bubbly daughter Mercer.
Alexis and I went to highschool together. We'd fallen out of touch over the years, but I finally got to meet her husband Daniel at our class reunion last summer (10 years, YIKES!). And then I got to meet Mercer, sweet little Mercer with her almost white-blonde hair and hot pink bow. LOVE little girls!
I can always count on the parents to be put together and "camera ready," but kids are wild cards. And if they haven't met me before, I usually hold my breath... "Are we going to be new best friends, or will the camera and I terrify you?" I picked a few flowers and made a peace offering to Mercer. She picked a few flowers and made a peace offering back. Mission accomplished! From that point on we held hands to walk, cross the parking lot, go down by the water, EVERYWHERE! My new BFF.
I always try to make people comfortable as fast as possible during a shoot. Joking around, telling them to ignore me, just talk to each other like I'm not here. Alexis and Daniel took great direction and you can definitely see the difference between formal posed and what I call hanging-out-shots. Of course Mercer provided the laughing and action shots. A true team effort.
This little family was so cute and easy to photograph. Mercer handled the session like a champ until the very end. (I got thirsty too girl.)
Enjoy the photos from our Sunday evening spent together!
